Preferred download software:

Unix users: type in a terminal

  wget -c URL

or

curl -C - -L -O URL

Or use aria2 or wxDownload Fast

Windows users: use Free Download Manager or GetRight

MAC users: Speed Download

Alternatively use a download software  that allows you to resume downloading from the point where it failed if the download aborts.
